Security with Martin M. Mann, founder and managing director of Securacom
When it comes to home security there is so much to consider. If we start with the basics, such as passive security which can include window locks and door locks like five-lever deadlocks, a door chain, and of course an alarm system; do you then go with a bell box that emits a loud noise when activated, or, like a growing number of homeowners, get a smart house alarm with benefits? Of course, your level of home security is dependent on your own needs and budget, but you must be aware that just because you pay more doesn’t mean you’ll get more!
This may sound like a bold declaration but I think homeowners who use Securacom get a lot more for their money than those who use competitor products. With this in mind, I always recommend you do your research; after all home security is a long-term investment.
A growing number of homeowners are opting for smart house alarms because of the additional benefits these types of systems offer. Smart alarms are in effect the future of modern day crime prevention, creating an effective chain reaction that protects both property and life. For example, a Securacom smart alarm includes additional accessories such as a monitored smoke detector, medical pendants and a panic alarm, which are also monitored by our monitoring partner. The real benefit however is not the low price, but the service our customers get and the benefits they receive – that’s the true value of smart alarms. In a number of countries, such as the US and parts of Europe, monitored alarms are nothing new and I’m sure homeowners in these countries would be very amused to know that UK homeowners protect their homes with a box that makes a noise.
Of course as I mentioned earlier, there are additional measures homeowners should take, such as adequate door and window locks. Security lights are also another consideration, although I have heard these can actually help intruders, but as a homeowner myself I would recommend they form part of your home security. I would also recommend you join your local Neighbourhood Watch. Most importantly however, I do sincerely recommend you invest in a monitored alarm, not only because I have invested heavily in Securacom, but because I also use them to protect my own property and family.
