Passover is only a couple of weeks away and preparations are probably already well underway in time for 22nd April. JLife knows only too well how busy this time of year is – and this is why we are offering three key spring cleaning tips for the areas you may have missed in order to get the house spick and span in time for the imminent arrival of your guests.
Remove Kinks
We have a quick and easy tip to help repair the dents in your carpet and to impress guests. Using the ‘shot of steam’ iron setting, aim at each indentation before fluffing. An alternative method is putting ice cubes on each dent, letting them melt and lifting them up with a spool. This ensures the carpet will return to its original shape due to the swelling of fibres.
Bed Time
As you are likely to have guests staying over, it is time to wash the pillows. The way to clean depends on the pillow type. Down and fiberfill can be washed in a washing machine. If your pillow has a care label, be sure to read that and follow the directions. Foam pillows, on the other hand, can’t go in the machine. If there’s a removable cover, wash that according to the care instructions on the tag. To remove dust, vacuum both sides. Clean any soiled areas with a soapy cloth and some include instructions for hand washing.
Declutter Your Life
Not just a cleaning tip for Passover, but a cleaning tip in general: use the two-week rule to ensure you never become a hoarder and maintain a clean house at all times. With notable exceptions, if you haven’t used an item in two weeks (an old magazine, food in the kitchen, make-up or old clothes you’ll never wear again), get rid of it. It is the simplest and most effective way to clean, and ensures you won’t have as big a challenge next time you tackle the mountain of housework.
