It’s Friday morning and the JLife office is abuzz with excitement – not merely because the dreary clouds are starting to clear away, but due to the fact that the 2015 edition of JLife Leeds June/ July is officially ready for your reading.

Avid subscribers of the publication might be familiar with just why this issue in particular has got our team talking; as well as being summer-inspired; it marks this year’s official Bar/ Bat Mitzvah guide, jam-packed with top tips, fashion ideas, and pages of pictures.

But whether you’re a long-term reader or a newcomer manoeuvring across this blog out of curiosity, we promise there’s plenty to maintain your interest.

Pour yourself an ice cold drink, perch your favourite sunglasses atop your nose, and lounge outside with a FREE glossy copy of JLife June/ July (or access it online here) – what could be better? Here are five reasons why you should.

  1. 1.      What’s New?

Being a community-centric magazine, JLife is committed to being on the pulse of all that’s new across Leeds, so rest assured that we’ll being you all the need-to-know updates alongside a multitude of the latest pictures. From large-scale events to smaller gatherings and changes within local organisations, we have it all covered.

Pick up the latest issue for an insight into the launch of this year’s Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards, with the Chuckle Brothers and other celebrity guests in attendance, and find out how the brave Donisthorpe Hall participants got on during their third consecutive Endurance Walk.

Dame Stephanie Shirley also recently addressed a Women4Welfare audience, while the 17th annual PhysCap five-a-side football challenge, featuring Howard Webb, is upping its momentum.

  1. 2.      Featured Favourites

Vibrant, colourful features are at the heart of JLife – ranging in size and content – and our recent issue is no different.

Faraway visitors and local residents alike can find out all that’s new across Boston Spa and Street Lane and discover just why they’re equipped for perfect summer afternoon outings.

Younger readers will especially appreciate our overview of unique Father’s Day gift ideas and days out across Leeds – bid farewell to gift inspiration struggles.

A running thread throughout the course of the edition is the 2015 Bar/ Bat Mitzvah Guide. Scan your eyes over the photo montage, find out how to get on-trend looks, and take a moment to reflect back on just what the special occasion means.

At JLife we’re continuing to develop new concepts – and we can’t wait to hear what you think! In our very first JFiles, you have a chance to get to know a number of Yorkshire’s finest chefs and their recipe for success.

  1. 3.      Getting to Know You

Given the ever-expanding community that we’re nestled in and the number of inspiring members within it, it would be a shame not to get to know them at a greater level, and that’s exactly what JLife sets out to do in our issues.

For June/ July, and close to home, The Zone’s CEO Raina Sheaf, gives us an exclusive update about the club’s relocation one year on.

As always with our arts interviews, those with unique careers and initiatives make an enlightening read. Check out our chat with Dr Stephen Muir, senior lecturer at the University of Leeds’ School of Music, who reveals his latest project, Performing the Jewish Archive.

And touching on a poignant topic, JLife recently embarked on a memorable visit to the National Holocaust Centre. Find out the lessons that we learned and gauge a first-hand perspective into its goals courtesy of the team behind it.

  1. 4.      Win, Win, Win

Who doesn’t fantasise about the prospect of winning competitions and an abundance of great prizes? Well, if you don’t enter, you’ll miss your chance!

In June/ July’s edition we have opportunities galore for you!

Winning a year’s supply of ice cream at Ira B’s is simply a click away, while one lucky reader will get their hands on a free one-month membership and spa treatment at Cookridge Hall.

Three keen readers will also have a chance to expand their summer reading list with a copy of Two Bronze Pennies, and what could round off a picturesque visit to Boston Spa more than afternoon tea for two at Dulcie Butterfly?

Keep an eye out for all our forthcoming editions for even more exciting giveaways.
