Here are JLife’s picks for treating the mother figure in your life for Mother’s Day (31st March).
Lady of the House
Treat mum to a special day at The Lord Darcy this year. Delicious food, delightful drinks (including a perfect G&T guarantee!) and cosy surroundings at the newly refurbished pub in Alwoodley are sure-fire reasons to show your appreciation.
With views over the rooftops of Leeds and a luxury but comfortable interior, Crafthouse is the perfect place to take the special lady in your life to show her just how loved she is!
Located on the fifth floor of the Trinity Leeds shopping centre, Crafthouse, a spot of shopping and then a cocktail or a gourmet menu treat is a taste of much-needed leisurely indulgence.
Don’t Leave Her Hanging
For many, there’s no better way to spend Mother’s Day than with a morning of creativity with a complimentary glass of bucks fizz!
Simple and easy to make, plant hangers are perfect for indoors and out, and usually displayed all over The Bowery on Otley Road in Headingley, this is yours and your mum’s chance to make your own to take home. All materials provided and no experience is necessary, just get crafting!
I Think I Can
The classic 1941 Disney animated tale of Dumbo, the story of a young elephant whose oversized ears enable him to fly, makes its big return to the screen on 29th March, and is helmed by everyone’s favourite fantasy director, Tim Burton. Sure to be a fantastical and a tear-jerking treat for all the family, alongside the elephant in the room, Eva Green, Colin Farrell and Burton favourite Michael Keaton join in the circus fun.
In cinemas 29th March.
Gabrielle is one of the UK’s most successful singer-songwriters, having sold over five million records in the UK, scoring two number one singles, five top 10 albums, two BRIT Awards and an Ivor Novello award for Outstanding Song Collection.
Under My Skin is Gabrielle’s first studio album in 11 years and marks 25 years since the release of her debut single, Dreams. Performing at Leeds Town Hall on 30th March, Gabrielle will be performing her career hits as well as tracks from her latest album that landed at number seven in the UK charts. The ‘Under the Skin VIP package’ includes a chance to nab the best seats in the house as well as meet Gabrielle before the show starts – dreams really can come true!
Roll back the years and help your mum don the flares for some of the music of the 1970s!
Following the success of last year’s Legends Live concerts, a new tour has been announced for 2019. The show will bring together Suzi Quatro, pop icon David Essex, Bay City Rollers and Showaddywaddy, and arrive at Leeds’ first direct arena on 5th April.
With over 50 Top 30 hits and in excess of 100 million record sales between them, this will surely be a night you cannot miss.
