Father’s Day is just around the corner (16th June) and as much as your dad might be looking forward to adding to his sock collection, he’d rather spend the day with you. JLife chooses activities for Father’s Day in Leeds to make your dad feel special.
Right on Track
Most dads love steam trains, treat him throughout Father’s Day weekend at the Middleton Railway, the world’s longest running working railway.
More details about the special events to take place on the day itself, but there’s still plenty to see and do at this historic interactive museum. This former colliery line, just over a mile from the city centre is now a Heritage Railway running passenger trains. With just over a mile of track between Moor Road and Park Halt station, on the northern edge of Middleton Park, it is ideal not just for rail enthusiasts, but the whole family. The on-site museum offers visitors the chance to discover 200 years of steam locomotives, many of which were built in Leeds.
All Leeds is He
Indulge your dad to a Father’s Day lunch at the home of his favourite team, Leeds United.
Secure automatic promotion in his heart with an exclusive behind the scenes stadium tour, where he’ll get to see the players dressing rooms, walk down the Elland Road tunnel and perhaps get a photo on the Leeds United bench. The day will conclude with a delicious two-course lunch in the Bremner Suite.
Daddy’s Carr
Can your dad navigate his way around RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate and come out victorious in the special Father’s Day Orienteering challenge? Follow the course on the map using a special electronic ‘dibber’ to record how long it takes to complete the course, and there will be a prize for the fastest family!
Of course, a day out at RHS Garden Harlow Carr would not be complete without taking a break at its own Bettys Café Tea Rooms. Indulge your dad with a fat rascal and a well-earned cup of tea after your orienteering adventures…if you haven’t got lost that is!

Pit Stop
If your dad is a motoring enthusiast, he may welcome the return of The Yorkshire Post Motor Show & Classic Car Rally to Harewood House on Father’s Day.
It’s the first time in four years that Harewood House has hosted the popular event that features not only classic cars but also a selection of stands from a variety of motor dealers from the region. Visitors will be treated to a packed programme of entertainment, headlined by stunt motorcycle display team, Broke FMX. There will also be a funfair for children, petting farm and street food stands celebrating Yorkshire’s finest ingredients, so all the family can enjoy the fun.
Here Come the Men in Black
Father’s Day weekend sees the release of Men in Black: International, the spinoff movie that shifts focus away from Will Smith’s Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones’s Agent K for a new generation of sci-fi comedy lovers.
This time Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame’s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson don the suits to save Earth from nefarious creatures of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organisation. Your dad might love it!
