Moving from its original location in Kirkgate, Home has relocated to a brand-new unit overlooking the River Aire to continue serving its ever-evolving tasting platters in relaxed surroundings. With tables circling the kitchen in the centre of the dining room, guests can witness the chef’s meticulous work as they prepare dishes which combine worldwide influences with an emphasis on British ingredients sourced from Yorkshire. Serving up a spontaneous collection of eight to 10 courses, these innovative creations from MasterChef semi-finalist Elizabeth Cottam could take a few hours to finish.
Golaccio
Nestled within the middle of Great George Street, Golaccio is a small passage of nostalgia for fans of Italy’s golden age of football. The sports bar allows punters to relive the best goal scoring moments of the 90’s era, streaming old games on HD screens while serving up Italian craft beer and fresh pizza. Vintage computer games, board games and a regular world football quiz are also on offer to keep the crowds entertained, with potential special discounts going for anyone who walks in wearing a retro football shirt.

Handsome
The huge mural covering the outside walls of Handsome beckons all beer connoisseurs to enter as the bar prepares to open at the end of February. Born in the Lake District, Handsome brewery are planting their second bar right outside the University of Leeds, transforming an old fancy dress shop into a modern pub with a traditional look. Individually brewed in a months-long process, a unique range of moreish craft beer will be poured from the bar’s taps including White Wolf Wheat beer, Black Smith dark stout and Top Knot Pale Gold.
Canal Club
Sitting along the banks of Granary Wharf, the £1 million investment of Canal Club is also an all-day drinking and dining destination boasting a globally inspired sharing menu and trendsetting cocktails. Lit up with neon signage with palm leaves hanging from the ceilings and walls, the bar’s vibrant interior is a transportation to Havana. Choose tropical twists of your favourite cocktails including the Burlesque Martini made from red berry vodka or the Zapaca Rum Fashioned with pineapple syrup and chocolate bitters. 90-minute bottomless brunches and some of Leeds’s best DJs are also on offer here on weekends.
Love Brownies
Anyone with a sweet tooth will struggle to get away from Love Brownies, which is now treating shoppers at Victoria Gate. Baked by hand from the Yorkshire Dales, the café’s brownies come in all sorts of flavours: from morello cherry, wild mint, and espresso, with plenty of vegan options too. Slightly healthier lunch options are also available to quickly balance out the diet, including the Wholesome Bowl made up of new potatoes, broccoli, sundried tomatoes, parmesan and pumpkin seeds. A lunch time deal combines a sandwich, drink and brownie for £9.
