Afternoon tea is a popular choice for Mother’s Day (11th March). JLife rounds up the cream of the crop from Leeds’ top tearooms for ideas to treat your mum…
Ain’t it Grand
Just Grand! is located in Leeds city centre’s Grand Arcade, which bustles with independent shops, bars and eateries. The vintage tearoom allows its visitors to step back in time with period décor, china tea cups and saucers, vintage tablecloths and background music.
Celebrating what it describes as the “quintessentially British” traditions of tea drinking and home baking, the quirky café will be marking Mother’s Day with a special event. Swing singer Richard Daniels will be providing the live entertainment as part of an afternoon tea package that includes a choice of prosecco, wine or sherry, as well as the usual three tiers of treats featuring finger sandwiches, a freshly-baked scone and homemade fruitcake with Wensleydale cheese. As everything is made in-house on the day, dietary requirements must be mentioned in advance, with the tearoom able to adapt its recipes to suit vegans.
