Bring the Indoors Out

Garden rooms are fast becoming the must-have addition to every property. We speak to James Cummiskey, director of Lifetime Lodges, about the reasons behind their explosion in popularity.

Many of us are looking to spruce up our spaces before having people over indoors for the first time in months, and garden rooms offer a unique opportunity to custom-make a space to your liking without having to repurpose a room you already have. Lifetime Lodges is one of the UK’s leading eco-friendly private retreat companies, and its garden rooms might be just what you need to complete your home this summer.

Bring the Indoors Out

5 May 2021

“At this moment in time we’re seeing a high demand on garden bars, garden gyms, and garden offices,” says Lifetime Lodges Director James Cummiskey. “The main reason is because of the uncertainty that the pandemic has created. People don’t know if they’ll be going back to work or going back into lockdown, or if they can even get to a gym. What people are doing now is setting up these things from home. Our customers have been able to keep doing the things that they like doing on a daily basis by building them in their back garden.”

Garden rooms, unlike their much more basic cousin summer houses, are fully functioning, sturdy rooms much like you would find in your home. They have heating, windows, and are built of solid materials, making them suitable for all weather.

Home offices, gyms, and bars are only a few of the vast possibilities of uses. “All of our garden rooms are completely bespoke; we make them specifically for the customer’s requirements. Each one is unique, and they can be used for so many different things. One thing that’s in high demand at the moment is golf simulators. The golf industry has boomed, and simulators are in high demand. We also have a lot of requests for man-caves at the moment.”

One of the main concerns that always comes up when considering this kind of large-scale change to a home is the disruption of life it can cause while it’s being built. Lifetime Lodges has a unique solution to this problem. “Most companies build garden rooms on-site and it causes disruption to the client. We don’t do that. We build the garden rooms at our site in Rosendale, and then transport them to the client’s home. This cuts down installation drastically; at maximum we spend seven days on-site.”

With a market so flush with options, James makes it clear that Lifetime Lodges is the company to go to: “We sit pretty much in the middle of the market in terms of price, but what sets us apart from the crowd is quality. Our products are affordable, and as the name suggests, our lodges are designed to last a lifetime.”

Lifetime Lodges operates UK-wide and is also able to work on a commercial level. To find out more visit Lifetimelodge.com
