Fusing delicious eateries, thriving businesses, and luxury retailers, Spinningfields is rising in the ranks as Manchester’s place to be.
With its eclectic attractions and wealth of visitors, leisure has long been associated with Manchester’s city landscape – but nothing has quite catered for the need like Spinningfields.
Since plans for the location’s conception began in 2001, it has continued to evolve, particularly in terms of it emerging as a mixed-use development and incorporating The Avenue and The Avenue North, Left Bank and The Lawns.
Spinningfields was originally recognised for its high-end shops – being home to the Mulberry standalone store, Emporio Armani, Oliver Sweeney, and Flannels among others – but its wining and dining offering soon became a force to be reckoned with. Its influx of impressive bars and restaurants now include Fazenda, Iberica, Scene, Artisan, Australasia, Neighbourhood, The Long Bar, and the Alchemist, while the addition of various pop-up venues is also an exciting bonus.
As well as dining opportunities, Spinningfields offers a feast for the eyes courtesy of its regular cosmopolitan-inspired range of events. The Makers Market is held every third weekend of the month from 11am – 5pm, showcasing award-winning art and craft producers, and presenting live music, performances, cookery demonstrations, and activities for children. Spinfest also enjoyed an outing within the area over the summer in which kids participated in an afternoon of animal encounters, face painting, and balloon art.
More changes for the popular complex are already afoot – the next phase in the advancement of Spinningfields has been announced with two new additions to Hardman Square. The Lawn Club, which has recently opened after a revamp, will house its own private lawn which will host events, from barbeques and live arts through to garden games and al fresco dinner parties. The exclusive lawn will replace the larger, three-tiered communal lawns which have been temporarily closed until 2017 while the final phase of development takes place. Additionally, new café-bar Rust and Stone will open within the Long Bar unit, featuring a European, bistro-style offering within the bustling heart of the area.
Andrea George, commercial director at Allied London, said: “Spinningfields is an ever-evolving site, constantly looking to add to its flourishing mix of unique restaurants and bars. Leftbank is undergoing a revival, with the addition of The Kitchens, Scene and The Dockyard providing an oasis for foodies, and Comptoir Libanais will be coming to The Avenue in the autumn.
“On top of that, our commercial development of the XYZ building and No.1 Spinningfields will add to the buzz and atmosphere around Spinningfields once complete. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve Spinningfield’s offering and will continue to push ourselves as the best place in Manchester to work, live, eat, drink and shop.”
Be it to indulge, enjoy a spot of retail therapy, or simply take in the sight, it’s worth going along to Spinningfields and experiencing it for yourself.
