Ultra violet has been named as Pantone’s Color of the Year 2018. So JLife turned to an interior design expert to find out how best to bring the bold shade of purple into your home.
Pantone’s Color of the Year 2018 has been announced as ultra violet or, to be exact, Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet.
The expert colour printing and matching company made the decision to highlight ultra violet, a deep purple hue, and stated on its website: “Complex and contemplative, ultra violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance.”
Having linked pop music icons such as Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix to its chosen shade and conjured up imagery of galaxies and dark, starry nights, Pantone has selected a rich, bold colour that will be tough to ignore. But, how do you integrate such a punchy pick into your home colour scheme?
Rebecca Snowden, interior style advisor at Furniture Choice, a leading furniture retailer, told JLife: “At first glance this shade can feel overwhelming and perhaps a little challenging to match, but adding a splash into an otherwise neutral space allows the colour to shine without taking over.
