Donisthorpe Ladies Fundraising Committee hit the high notes with a fantastic evening of fundraising.

Over 160 guests were in attendance in an event that served as a reminder of how important it is for the community that the future of Donisthorpe is secure. Committee member Susan Da Costa said: “It was absolutely amazing to see the Trudi Moss Suite looking alive and vibrant again. The event celebrated the positivity around the recent turnaround, reassuring the Leeds Jewish community that the home is going from strength to strength under the chairmanship of Robert Ross, Ashley Cohen and its manager Jane Stone.”

Guests were welcomed with a glass of Pimm’s and arrival music provided by David Gloan. The guests of honour were Alex and Ashley Serr while Nikki and Ashley Cohen opened the event, and Howard Lee took charge of compering, keeping attendees entertained throughout the night with his well-loved humour.

Craig, the head chef at Donisthorpe, produced a sumptuous barbecue-style meal which was enjoyed by all the guests. Many of the home’s staff kindly came along to help out, while in a rare reversal, Regina Waldman was able to enjoy a Donisthorpe function instead of organising it.

Following the food, attendees enjoyed musical entertainment from Stanley Glucksman and Susan Wilcock. Stanley sang a rendition of old classics while Susan recreated her favourite musicals, both performances leaving the audience mesmerised.

The committee is already busy organising its next function, billed as a night of music not to be missed. Tickets are on sale for the fundraiser on 1st December at The Zone, which will see performances from Trio 753 under Phil Cammerman and The Leeds Contemporary Pop Choir, with the proceeds shared between Donisthorpe and The Zone. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
