Two long-time friends, restauranteur Martin Pickles and Martin Hicks, managing director of Weetwood Hall, have joined forces to open a brand new restaurant at Weetwood Hall conference venue on Otley Road.
Convive, a newly-built restaurant, will bring a Mediterranean lifestyle to the suburbs of Leeds, and mark the second time the duo has worked together professionally.
The new restaurant, opens in early February 2017, and will be part of the Weetwood Hall estate but retain an independent identity of its own.
As Convive’s head of operations, Martin Pickles will be responsible for managing the restaurant day-to-day. Originally from Keighley, Martin owned one of Leeds’ most celebrated restaurants, The Flying Pizza in Roundhay, for over 10 years.
The profits from the Weetwood estate including Convive will benefit The University of Leeds, which owns Weetwood Hall. The money will be used to fund important research and development projects and for the benefit of students.
