David Baddiel was the headline act at the LJWB annual dinner performing excerpts from his recent show Fame: Not The Musical, which has a strong Jewish element.
The writer and comedian also expressed a keen interest in the beneficiary of the £75,000-plus proceeds, LJWB mental health service Neshama.
David, the first patron of mental health initiative Calm, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, said: “The rate of suicide in men under 40 is higher than any other killer of men apart from road death.
“Some don’t have the linguistic or emotional tools to talk about depression and they don’t recognise what it is when they get it. That’s where Neshama steps in. I’m so pleased that Neshama is doing this in Leeds.”
