JLife can exclusively reveal that the next Leeds Day Limmud will take place on 15th September 2019.
Make sure to save the date for next year, as the Leeds Limmud team is already working on an eclectic programme of events, talks and activities for the city’s 15th Day Limmud.
The cultural event, which usually features a mix of prestigious speakers, prominent guests and thought-provoking discussions and sessions on everything from history to community, last took place in October 2017.
Over 300 participants were involved with the previous Leeds showcase, which was hosted by Weetwood Hall Estate hotel and conference centre and included a full day of presentations and workshops, kosher lunch and refreshments, as well as a Young Limmud event for four to 14 year-olds, which was run by Habonim Dror. Speakers included a range of nationally and internationally regarded guests such as Clive Lawton OBE, one of the original Limmud founders, as well as Trevor Avery, director of the Lake District Holocaust Project, Professor Griselda Pollock of the University of Leeds, and Wayne Robins, a rock journalist from the US.
Limmud is run entirely by volunteers and is dedicated to promoting and sharing Jewish learning. Events regularly take place across the UK, with recent gatherings in Manchester, Thames Valley and Bristol. While, looking ahead to the rest of 2018, Cambridge Limmud is set for 4th November.
Keep a note of further upcoming Limmud days near you, as Birmingham will join Leeds in hosting an event next year, and there will also be a special Limmud After Dark session in Harrow on 9th March 2019.
Roma Cohen and Elana Fligg remain as co-chairs of the Leeds branch, and are working with an experienced team of volunteers to create the next Day Limmud.
The team are also seeking new volunteers to lend a helping hand for the 2019 edition. For more information, email leeds@limmud.org.
