Loneliness, social isolation and mental health remain at the forefront of Leeds Jewish Welfare Board’s (LJWB) agenda with these key issues being highlighted at its annual 1 in 4 Dinner, which was held over national Mental Health Awareness Week.
Over 400 people attended the sell-out fundraising dinner with special guest, comedian Omid Djalili, over 70 more attendees than last year. The £88,000 raised from the Leeds Jewish Welfare Board dinner will be used to continue to fund two support worker posts and maintain vital support services for the community.
“As loneliness continues to rise many are becoming social isolated across all age groups,” said Liz Bradbury, LJWB chief executive. “Without the intervention of the welfare board, one in four people in our community run the risk of being socially isolated.”
