Menswear retailer, Skopes Menswear will be the platinum sponsor of PhysCap’s 19th annual 5-a-side football tournament, which is to be held on the 23rd July at The Grammar School at Leeds.
Skopes have been supporters and sponsors of the event for the last three years, with this year marking its first as headline sponsor.
The cup sees local 5-a-side teams battling it out through knock-out games to win the honour of lifting the PhysCap cup, and provides families with a fun day out. The event is open to anyone over the age of 16, regardless of their ability.
As well as the football matches, there are plenty of activities for families throughout the day including a bouncy castle, face painting and the chance to have a ride in a police car. There will also be a raffle with fantastic prizes.
Established in 1970, PhysCap is a Yorkshire-based charity ran completely by volunteers dedicated to improving the quality of life for children suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities. It support families who may have limited funds to buy specialist or therapeutic equipment for their children and by providing assistance to make their day-to-day lives a little easier.
The charity works closely with therapists, hospitals and local specialist schools and over the last 25 years in particular have provided countless families with equipment including touchscreen computer systems and specially-adapted trikes. PhysCap also helps to raise money for children who require therapy and conductive education.
PhysCap co-chairman Daniel Gray said: “We are absolutely delighted that Skopes have agreed to be the platinum sponsor for one of our flagship events. Skopes has been a longstanding friend of our charity and we are thrilled that they have taken their support even further with this generous sponsorship. Their ongoing support continues to help us in aiding mentally and physically disabled children and their families across the region.”
“We’re very happy to be able to show our support for PhysCap through sponsorship of the PhysCap cup,” commented Simon Cope, managing director of Skopes.
“This charity supports the local community in so many ways, and relies on support from businesses to continue to do so. We have already supported the charity for a number of years, and so we are very happy to be able to be platinum sponsor for this year’s tournament.”
