Homeless Street Angels has so many ways for you to share the joy this festive season.
To welcome the holiday season, Homeless Street Angels are asking you to take part in its Christmas Rucksack Event on 17th December which, in conjunction with its reverse advent calendar scheme, is sure to make this year a more charitable Christmas than ever.
After the success of its Christmas backpack appeal last year, this year’s rucksack appeal is back and bigger! Homeless Street Angels is planning to take rucksacks around Leeds City Centre on Christmas Eve and they need your help to donate items or sponsor a rucksack to fill them all. Join Homeless Street Angels for a day of donation and fundraising at Moortown Social club from one to five pm for a cake sale, gift stalls, tombola, raffle, and Santa visit. Desirable items for donation include baby wipes, aftershave, perfume, socks, deodorants, chocolate and sweets, puzzle books and pens, and snacks and drinks.
To get involved in the reverse advent calendar activity you can follow along by yourself at home until it’s time for donation. To begin ready a box to gather everything in and each day put the special item as outlined on your calendar (found on the Homeless Street Angels website) into your box, then on Christmas Eve when the box is full you can donate it to the Homeless Street Angels foodbank. Each day is an essential item which you probably have in your home already such as coffee, tea, shampoo, pasta, or cereal so get your kids involved in the gift of giving this year and have a scavenger hunt around your house to collect essentials for those in need.
