Come one and all to Donisthorpe Hall on 1st July to find out how you can help save this community hub.
Everyone in the community is invited to an open meeting to find out more about the future of Donisthorpe Hall.
At 3pm on 1st July, any questions or queries you may have about how to do your bit to keep Donisthorpe up and running will be answered, alongside an opportunity to hear how the care
home is fairing since reinstating admissions in 2017.
Both CQC and the local council have seen significant improvements in the care and quality to take the home out of special measures and remove the embargo on new council funded residents. The executive team, trustees and management continues to work tirelessly to improve the quality of care that CQC requires and despite new admissions and being fully open for business, there is still a significant shortfall in funding – an issue that will be discussed during the afternoon.
During this open community event the trustees and home manager will share with you the vision and planned direction of travel for the care home. Joining them will be Russell Manning and Liz Bradbury, chair and CEO of LJWB who will talk in more specific detail about how the two organisations have been working together over the last six to nine months in terms of sharing resources and best practice. They also hope to communicate to the community what the future of care provision may look like for our most vulnerable individuals, and how a more formal integration of the organisations might look like.
Other topics include the recommencing of fundraising by the home for the first time in two years, for which the home needs community support once again. Whether you represent a business that could fundraise for the home or simply a concerned citizen with some time and expertise to offer, this is your chance to hear how this vital community asset needs you.
“We are simply asking for 90 minutes of your time to hear more about the future of our vital home,” explains Ashley Cohen, one of the trustees of Donisthorpe, “whether you have a direct connection to the home or not, come and find out more.”
Young or old, religious or secular, the team at Donisthorpe would like to hear your ideas and encourages the Leeds Jewish community to rally round to help this historic home. Jane Stone, the home’s manager agrees: “It is more than just a generic care home, it’s a community hub. The home is a fantastic facility that the Jewish people of Leeds have got behind and supported in the past. I hope they can again at this important time.”
