The Manchester Regional Group of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain have started a project in an attempt to identify the soldiers and children in the accompanying photograph which was taken outside a Manchester synagogue in 1914.

The photo is from the British Jewry Book of Honour which was published in 1922. It is reproduced courtesy of Forces-war-records.co.uk who donated the scans for use in the project.

Anyone with any knowledge about the image is encouraged to get in touch with Stephen Brown of the society and provide as many details as possible because any fact or story may prove helpful, such as where they lived and any familial connections they have.

For more information or to supply any insights, post your contributions and contact details to Stephen Brown, 77 Hardfield Road, Middleton, Manchester, M24 1JA. Alternatively, call 0161 643 8705 or e-mailsmbrown65@googlemail.com.
