The Community Security Trust are launching a new fundraising campaign to keep the community safe.
The Community Security Trust (CST) are fundraising to raise awareness of the charity’s cause in tackling antisemitism and discrimination across Manchester. The Together We Protect online crowdfunding event will take place between the 5th to 7th March, giving participants the chance to sign up to be a Team Captain and help the charity expand their reach to more families in the Jewish community.
With over 90 staff members working across Manchester, Leeds, and London, CST secures nearly 1,000 Jewish communal events every year while providing security training for members
of Jewish schools and synagogues. Specialising in online research, the charity also advises local governments, police, and politicians of suspected antisemites and potential terrorist threats which have resulted in multiple arrests and convictions. CST also supports young people through the
charity’s Streetwise project, running workshops with school pupils on internet safety, self-defence, and leadership training. Partnered with the Stand Up! and Maccabi GB charities, the project also works with Jewish students on campuses to support their wellbeing during higher education.
“CST is not ‘just another charity’ but is part of the very fabric of our Jewish community and an intrinsic part of Jewish life here in the UK,” said Fundraising Executive Abby-Jo Sheldon.
“From security enhancements on community buildings to security guards that have been trained by CST or dedicated volunteers walking on shabbat patrols, our work enables us to live safe and vibrant Jewish lives.
“You can help us reach more of the community by signing up to be one of our Team Captains, and with a very small effort you can make a huge impact. Last year, our captains turned a few emails and WhatsApp messages into enough donations to cover our costs for much of the year. CST will provide you with simple and compelling messages about our work. All we ask is that you share them with your contacts.”
