Keep the kids smiling this half term and embrace all things autumnal with JLife’s selection of fun-filled activities.
Halloween Horror
Take a break from trick or treating this Halloween and instead go along to Stockeld Park where numerous Halloween-inspired schemes are being hosted, including fright nights, witch trails, and a firework spectacle. The activities will no doubt create an eerie, mysterious and scary atmosphere for all the family to enjoy.
Strut your stuff at their Halloween catwalk, taking place at 3pm every day from 24thOctober through to 30th October, where your whole family will be given the opportunity to dress up in their scariest outfit and parade around the park to try and win the best-dressed prize.
For little ones seeking something tamer, on 24th and 25th October, Stockeld Park is also providing the opportunity to watch an expert pumpkin carver slice some original designs into their pumpkins which were grown in-house. They’ll be ready for you to pick yourself, and you’ll also receive a free carving sheet from their pumpkin patch.

As White as Snow
What better way to mark the seasonal shift than by being transported to a wintry world in Carriageworks Theatre’s production of The Snow Child?
Enthralling audience members on 30th October, and adapted from the best-selling book of the same name, the tale focuses on the heartache of a lonely couple yearning for a child of their own. On one particularly cold, white winter’s day, they decide to sculpt a daughter out of snow – before unexpectedly bringing her to life! Magic and mayhem soon ensue as they attempt to navigate through the life-altering event and learn to love her as their own.
Taking the reins of The Snow Child are the Tutti Frutti theatre development team, while Emma Reeves – whose TV triumphs include Tracy Beaker and the Dumping Ground – penned the play.
