A stunning evening of fundraising took place at Vermillion recently to celebrate 15 years of The Friendship Circle. Guests entered the room to an upbeat performance by The Friendship Circle Drummers, who set the scene for an incredible evening. Members took centre stage throughout the night, kicking off with member Hannah Levy officially welcoming guests, assisted by Programme Director Esty Bruck.
Friendship Circle member Elliot Sayers received a well-deserved standing ovation for his amazing rendition of Joe Cocker’s ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’, followed by two Frank Sinatra classics, ‘My Way’ and ‘That’s Life’. During the evening, Dance Syndrome, an all ability dance group, together with some of our members, mesmerised the audience with an uplifting dance routine which focussed on friendship and inclusivity.
The MC for the evening was TV and Radio presenter Andy Crane (best known for presenting Children’s BBC in the late 80s) who also conducted an exciting auction including a Terry O’Neill lifetime signed portrait of Frank Sinatra, a Quooker Tap and two bespoke meals for 10 people catered by Masterchef Finalist, Olivia Burt, set about raising additional funds for the charity.
Guest speakers included Quooker MD Stephen Johnson, Patron of the Charity, and Hannah Mendell, Friendship Circle Ambassador who spoke on behalf of all the members.
Mimi Lyons, Friendship Circle Finance & Operations Director commented: “We were overwhelmed by the level of support and generosity we received on the night. To have over 600 of our loyal donors, members, and supporters in one room to celebrate with us was humbling beyond words. It shows just how far we have come since the charity was set up 15 years ago and gives us great optimism for the future. The money raised will help ensure that we can sustain our life-changing services for our members.”
Patron and Sponsor Mark Davies said: “Once again you managed to produce an inspiring evening that showcased the members’ wonderful talents. The Friendship Circle events always exceed other charity events as the members are at the forefront.”
The evening came to a close with Friendship Circle member Aaron Walker benching, and Rabbi Guttentag singing Acheinu, Hatikva, and the English National Anthem.
