Chabad Community Care has been active in Manchester for many years, yet the past 18 months have seen the amount of people it has been helping grow tremendously. The organisation brought joy to hundreds across the city, from hospital patients to care home residents, supporting the isolated and needy with anything from providing lifts to medical appointments and meals on wheels.
One of the latest services it offers is Garden Singers, who have entertained outside Jewish care homes such as Newlands and Gan Eden. Blocks of flats in the Broughton Park area have also enjoyed the musical entertainment led by Sivanne Lachs, Richard Blackston, Michelle Haffner and Debbie Horne.
Volunteers delivered an average of 800 care packages per month, while also helping with buddy phone calls and meetups. All these meaningful gestures did much to put a smile on so many people’s faces during hard times, reminding people of all ages they are never alone.
