Hallmark Hotels has uncovered some unromantic stats for JLife on the modern marriage and social media wedding etiquette in the digital generation!
Newlywed Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh recently issued stickers with her wedding invitations for guests to cover their phone camera lens in order to abide by the wedding ‘photography ban.’ But, following a survey, it appears it’s not just celebrities with a six figure glossy magazine deal putting an embargo on their wedding day pictures.
Nationwide, 45% of men and women agreed they would consider a social media ban asking guests to refrain posting pictures until the following day and women ranked unflattering wedding images appearing on social media a greater concern on the big day than the groom not showing up or rings going missing.
Meanwhile, Londoners appear to be the most vain bride and grooms, with the highest proportion admitting they would Photoshop their wedding photos if they could get away with it compared to the West Midlands who ranked the lowest.
A recent poll, to unveil wedding etiquette and the “I do’s” and “don’ts” in the digital age, shows that women in the North West ranked unflattering images appearing on social media higher than the groom not showing up or rings going missing, when asked about their top concern for their wedding day!
Would you take part in a wedding party selfie, have selfie sticks, ask for sign off before people uploaded pictures from your special day or be upset with only getting an e-invite to a wedding?
The stats from the North West (courtesy of Hallmark Hotels):

- The Welsh appear to be the vainest bride and grooms, with the highest proportion admitting they would Photoshop their wedding photos if they could get away with it compared to the West Midlands, who ranked the lowest.
- 46% consider it unacceptable to post unflattering pictures of the bride and groom online.
