After a long and difficult school year, being given the opportunity to be a part of the school’s junior leadership team is a huge honour and a great way to gain some new knowledge and skills before we leave Leeds Jewish Free School (LJFS).
Any role on the junior leadership team gives students a better understanding of the skills we need for our future lives outside LJFS, and in professional workplaces. These roles teach us how to work well and professionally in large groups, making compromises, finding solutions and supporting our peers. The junior leadership’s aim is to make LJFS an even better place by creating a comfortable and safe environment for all pupils through communication, mentoring younger students who may be struggling, and much more. Additionally, being part of this team inspires ourselves and others, through providing support and effective suggestions.
This allows the team to be viewed as role models, who help younger students through their personal LJFS journey. The leadership team aims to gain the trust of all students, because the Year 11s, specifically, have gone through the school journey themselves, with many first-hand experiences.
We’re glad to be here and happy to help; we’ll make sure that in the coming year we’ll do our best to make a positive impact. It hasn’t been an easy past two years, but with the help of our teachers, we’ll get back on our feet once again.
