Slave to the Rhythm
Zumba continues to be the overwhelmingly popular fitness trend going into 2017. Fast-paced, rhythmic, fun and effective, it is a dance workout for the whole body.
Dianne Mehr has been teaching Zumba for over six years in Bury and welcomes new starters of all ages and fitness levels to the Sunnybank Community Centre. The class choices available include standard Zumba, Zumba Low Impact and Zumba and Tone.

On the Defence
The next seminar in Krav Maga, the hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli military, will take place at Manchester Maccabi in Prestwich on 5th March. Until then, weekly self-defence classes are taught every Wednesday from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
The Krav Maga club has been running for over 15 years and 2016 proved as popular as ever among those seeking to learn more about this practical self-protection method.

Personal Best
After significant storm damage, Radcliffe Pool and Fitness Centre was reopened in 2015 by Olympic swimmer and BBC Sport commentator, Mark Foster.
Costing £1 million, the new pool is the UK’s first 25m demountable above-ground swimming pool. In addition, the revamped gym and functional training zone with state-of-the-art equipment joins an extensive sports hall that hosts five-a-side football, weekend badminton sessions, basketball and netball. A selection of fitness sessions are also available including Bodystep, Piloxing (a combination of Pilates and boxing) and Kettlercise, suitable for men and women across the fitness spectrum.

New Balance
On Bury Old Road, Prestwich Pilates and Yoga has a variety of classes for all ages and abilities whichever discipline you decide to specialise in. Sessions are able to be booked in online, including a variety of drop-in Yoga classes for you to choose from, all designed to give you a sense of calm and wellbeing.
The new studio recently started Pilates Tower classes, Pilates Barre classes and Yin Yang Yoga, which aims to create mental as well as physical balance.
