Swinging 60s Night Raises £400 for Camp Simcha

26 June 2019

Tony Mason and Susan Joseph hosted a swinging 60s night at the Hilton Suite in Prestwich, raising over £400 for Camp Simcha. 200 attendees enjoyed a two-course meal and an evening of dancing – entertained by Tony’s swing band, The Sound of the Sixties.

“We’re a group of geriatric musicians!” explains Tony. “We all played years ago and then we started again for enjoyment. People started to book us for events and parties and then we thought ‘why don’t we do this to raise money for charity?’ – so that is what we’ve done. Susan takes care of the catering side and I do the music.”

“We play all the hits of that era and everyone seems to really enjoy it. What is interesting is you have a lot of older people who ask us, ‘where can we go to dance at our age?’, so this is a lovely environment for them. They’re listening to music they grew up with and they love dancing to it.”

“We were really pleased to raise some money for Camp Simcha this time, supporting them in their work helping families who have a seriously ill child.”

The Sound of the Sixties will return to the Hilton Suite on 17th November.
