Jewish Action for Mental Health recently set up a wellbeing morning for children and adults alike at Shrubberies Shul.
Jewish Action for Mental Health (JAMH) collaborated with the EarlyBird Project for a family wellbeing morning at Shrubberies Shul last Friday with over 50 attendees. Natalie Mason, Founder of the Earlybird Project approached JAMH to create an event that was both stimulating for children and therapeutic for their grown-ups.
As well as Natalie creating incredible free-play areas which included home-made playdough, mask-making and dress-up, psychotherapist Daniel Nissen, Clinical Lead at JAMH provided a listening ear to concerned parents who were seeking support and advice about life with small children.
Natalie Mason said: “Creative activities have so many benefits, including supporting wellbeing, reducing stress and anxiety, and allowing self-expression. It was fantastic to see so many mums and young children taking part in our first wellbeing event, being given the time, space, permission, and opportunity to be creative together.”
PJ Library provided a welcoming literary corner for pre-schoolers, and Hayley Leigh was on hand to demonstrate grounding techniques for the whole family.
