The Friendship Circle will put on an inspirational fashion show to champion Jewish models with disabilities.
Diversity will be centre stage when Jewish charity The Friendship Circle invites its own members to walk the catwalk and raise funds to help people with disabilities.
Twenty male and female models, will take part in the inspiring event, called Be Beautiful, Be Yourself this autumn. The models will include people of all abilities including wheelchair users, those with Down Syndrome, and others who are living with other physical and learning disabilities.
Participants aged 25 to 40, from the Jewish community, will be joined on stage by some of the 150+ volunteers who have worked with the charity which strives to change perceptions and break down the barriers faced by people with disabilities in the community, empowering them to lead more rewarding and fulfilling lives, through a weekly pro-gramme of events and inclusion opportunities.
Hannah Mendell, a member of the charity and one of the event models said: “I love clothes, I love fashion but never thought it was a world that was open to someone like me. Growing up, I was bullied in mainstream school and always scared of people judging me because I looked different and have a rare developmental condition, Klippel Trenaunay Weber Syndrome. To be given an opportunity to celebrate who I am in front of so many people is a dream come true. I’m so excited!”
The show will take place across two nights, on 14th and 15th September, in Prestwich. Deborah Joseph, the Editor- in-Chief of Glamour Magazine, will be attending on 15th September to offer her support.
