Ahead of the Yoms, we find out about events which have been organised across the community to commemorate Israel’s national days.
Each spring the Yoms stand as a reminder of Jewish and Israeli history, and there’s no doubt that, given the ongoing war in Gaza, this year’s events will be particularly poignant. The UJIA is organising several events to honour the Yoms, and Yom Hashoah Manchester has put together the Yom Hashoah commemorations. Here are all the details for those who want to attend.
Yom Hashoah Manchester

Yom Hazikaron Tekes | 12th
May 6.45pm to 7.30pm | North Manchester Venue
Israel’s official remembrance day, Yom Hazikaron, will be observed in Manchester with a special art gallery and ceremony organised by UJIA. This year, the ceremony will commemorate Israel’s fallen soldiers, those killed on October 7th, and all victims of terror. Ben Shapiro, Chair of programs, UJIA Manchester, said: “In Israel, sirens will sound, traffic will come to a standstill. The least we can do is join together to remember and pay tribute to all of Israel’s victims of terror and all of those who have lost their lives in Israel wars since the formation of the modern state in 1948.”
