Over the past few months, we have seen the biggest period of change of many of our lifetimes. During these times many have found refuge in their homes. That’s why it tempting to indulge in making sure our homes are spaces in which we enjoy spending time: whether that’s to dust off that old sewing machine, crack the spine on a still unused cookbook or to finally learn the drums.

Renovations are in right now, with John Lewis & Partners reporting on 33% more searches for wallpaper and paint and 45% more searches for cushions since the start of lockdown in comparison to the same time last year. The investment in our family hideaways, be it a new throw for cosying up or a warm rug for the hallway, are all ways to seek comfort in the new world we find themselves in.
