WIZO UK continues to play a vital role in supporting Israel’s largest social welfare organisation through fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement across the UK.
WIZO’s recent activities have focused on both strengthening the British community’s connection to its work and responding to the growing humanitarian needs in Israel following the ongoing security situation. Across the country, WIZO groups are hosting a wide range of events designed to raise funds while bringing supporters together – from our mixed padel tournament in May to our Women’s Professional Network Wellbeing Evening that happened in March. Community gatherings, cultural talks, and charity events have remained central to this effort. These events not only raise essential funds but also create spaces for discussion about the social challenges facing women and families in Israel today.
Israel is once again operating under heightened emergency regulations following ongoing escalation, including direct threats involving Iran. Schools and public services are disrupted, and families are navigating renewed uncertainty, sirens, and sudden restrictions. For many of the women and children we support, the psychological toll compounds an already fragile reality.
Since October 7th, the destruction has been widely documented. Less visible is the second layer of impact, the emotional burden carried quietly inside homes and communities. Women steady children woken by sirens and support partners navigating trauma, manage financial strain, and disruption and keep families functioning while often expanding their own responsibilities. The invisible burden has intensified again in recent weeks. WIZO’s services do not pause during escalation, they adapt.
Our shelters provide immediate safety for women fleeing abuse. Trauma services address the psychological impact of sustained crisis. Our Violent Men’s Hotline, the only helpline of its kind in Israel, works directly with perpetrators, recognising that prevention must address root causes. Our Early Childhood Division has mobilised emergency frameworks to support essential workers, opening day-care centres for hospital and emergency staff so they can continue their lifesaving work knowing their children are safe.
