Homeless Street Angels has set up a range of charity initiatives to help those living on the streets over the holiday period.
North Leeds based homeless charity Homeless Street Angels is launching a brand-new initiative and asking the community for help. The initiative will focus around a reverse advent calendar, asking those taking part to place an item in a box everyday in the countdown to Christmas. The box will then be donated on Christmas Eve.
The items the charity is asking people to include are specific to each day, for example on 1st December the initiative ask participants to donate coffee. Each item included in the calendar is a supply desperately need by those living on the streets.
On top of this initiative, the charity is also seeking sponsors to support rucksacks full of gifts for the homeless over the holiday season. The charity’s volunteers will be going around Leeds City Centre on Christmas Eve with a dinner and essential supplies and also three special Christmas gifts per person.
Sponsors are sought for each rucksack to be handed out. Alternatively, those wishing to help out can donate single items or volunteer at the wrapping event at the Bar on Park Lane on 3rd December. There will also be a cake sale, sweet and gift stall, tombola, and a raffle with some great prizes.
Items needed by the charity include baby wipes and tissues, gift boxes, aftershave, perfume, socks, boxes of chocolate, underwear, puzzle books and pens, deodorants, snacks and drinks, and make-up sets.
