Gareth Redston has been named the new Chief Executive of Manchester Jewish Museum, taking over from Max Dunbar who stepped down after 10 years in December 2021. Redston previously worked as Head of Programmes at the museum since 2015, playing a large role in the museum’s expansion and renovation in a £6 million redevelopment.
Working within the cultural sector for over 20 years, Redston has also held positions at the Science and Industry Museum and Chester Zoo. Alongside his new position at the museum, he will also continue his role as Chair of Cheetham Cultural Festival and as Co-Chair of Governors in a local primary school.
“Gareth’s infectious enthusiasm for the museum’s work was clear throughout the recruitment process, and his understanding of our audiences is second to none,” announced the museum’s Interim Chair of Trustees, Richard Chapman QC.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with him to deliver the museum’s exciting plans for the future.”
