Roddy Doyle’s The Commitments is a fantastic evening of toe-tapping soul!

Featuring songs you’ll instantly recognise – even if you don’t know the track list – the music had the audience clapping through every song. With great hits like Mustang Sally and I Heard It On The Grapevine, and its infectious high-energy and hilarious comedy, this musical is accessible to regular musical-goers and sceptics alike.

A great underdog story of an Irish soul band’s journey to fame, you’re rooting for The Commitments to succeed. The set was visually stunning wit the same streetfront becoming multiple clubs, pubs, and even a two-storey house throughout the show, making it a pleasure to keep your eye on the small details in each transformation.

Coronation Street Legend, Nigel Pivaro, provided a star-studded element to the incredibly talented cast – for whom it must be a challenge to appear inexperienced playing out the band’s humble beginnings. A set of the shows greatest hits was performed in the finale which got everyone on their feet well ahead of the curtain call, the roaring crowd felt like a night at the theatre had rolled into the front row of a concert.
