Tackling Everest for Friendship Circle

Manchester residents Caroline Sherwin-Derby, Michele Lewis and Juliette Rose are tackling the Everest Base Camp Trek, a 15-day hike which will see them climb over 5,500 metres across the Himalayas, to raise vital funds for The Friendship Circle.

This will not be the first time the girls have tested their mettle – Caroline has climbed Kilimanjaro while Juliette and Michele undertook last year’s Sea-to-Sea Trek organised by The Fed. In preparation, the intrepid travellers will be undertaking a training regimen which includes participating in The Friendship Circle’s own Wellbeing Programme, with activities such as wall climbing, trampolining and yoga, designed to increase self-confidence, improve fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Explaining the motivation behind the challenge, Caroline said: “Last year we attended The Friendship Circle 10-year anniversary dinner and were totally blown away by how inspirational the members were. After hearing our friend’s daughter, Hannah Mendell speak at the event about what The Friendship Circle has done for her confidence, it was a unanimous decision to raise funds for this amazing charity.”
