On 6th June 2024, the D-Day 80 events will mark 80 years since one of the most significant military operations in history, the D-Day landings of World War ll, we remember with everlasting gratitude those who gave their lives for the freedom of Europe. The importance of the nations favourite dish was recognised during WW11, as Winston Churchill described them as “good companions” and in order to maintain the morale of the nation the iconic dish was one of the few foods not be rationed during the war. This year the 9th National Fish and Chip Day will be celebrated the same day, in its honour!
