Dad’s Day Out

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we take a look at just some of the events taking place in Leeds for the big day.

Live Brass Band

For the more musically discerning Dad, taking a walk out to Springhead Park, or New Wortley Recreation Ground might be in order. There you can take in a good old-fashioned brass band in the park. The events, organised by Leeds International Concert Season, will be taking place in various parks throughout Leeds every weekend this summer. Both performances on Father’s Day will take place between 2.30pm and 4pm and are completely free!

Classic Car Show

There are few things that radiate Dad-energy like a classic car show. Luckily, there’s one taking place at Swinthen’s Farm in Rothwell on 20th June. The farm will host a wealth of classic cars and other vehicles for everyone to look at, and best of all, the event is completely free! If that isn’t enough to entice you, should you feel like taking a turn around the farm while you’re there, entry costs only £4 for an adult and every dad gets a free tea or coffee and a free bun.

Pudsey 10K

For the more athletically inclined dad there is the Pudsey 10K run taking place on Father’s Day, organised by the Pudsey Pacers. The actual 10K race starts at 10.45am, with a Family Fun Run
taking place beforehand at 10am. The 10K race route will loop around Pudsey’s bowling green and by the parish church, with marshals dotted along the entirety of the route to stop anyone
wandering off. While tickets for both the main race and the fun run are sold out, heading down there to cheer on the runners and basking in the hopefully kind weather is sure to be a lovely
family day out.

Dadstastic Day

Dadstastic Day is a free event run by Leeds Dads packed full of family fun. Taking place at Leeds City Museum, the day will be full of lively activities such as dance lessons with Phoenix
Dance, an arts and crafts workshop on upcycling vinyl and turning records into art, a meet and greet with favourite fairy-tale characters, and even a Baby Rave! There are also a host of activities
taking place outside the museum in Millennium Square including giant boardgames, fights with Lego dad-bots, and a workshop on making your own boardgames to take home with you.
