Launch of LJWB Crisis Appeal

jlifejlife—30 March 20200

We are anticipating a 100% increase in the demand for our services and we’re radically changing them each day, to meet the ongoing challenges of this crisis. Social isolation is indisputably going to increase due to the measures the Government has introduced to slow the spread of the virus. This in turn, will significantly affect the mental wellbeing of many members of the Community.

We know that the Community is looking to LJWB to provide support, especially to our most vulnerable members. We are continuing to provide our existing services via distance support and have also produced a ‘virtual wellbeing programme’ so that we can continue to offer classes and activities.

In addition, we have mobilised our staff and volunteers to enable them to deliver food and essentials and to be a friendly voice at the end of the phone, so that nobody should feel they are alone. For more information visit www.ljwb.co.uk or like our Facebook page LJWB Leeds.

We have now launched our LJWB Crisis Appeal, which will raise the vital funds needed to support our Community through this crisis and beyond.

LJWB needs you now more than ever. Together we will face this crisis.

Many LJWB supporters will be aware that usually at this time of year, we would be selling tickets for our annual 1 in 4 Dinner and also looking for sponsorship of our Annual Brochure. The coronavirus gave us no choice but to cancel all of that activity and so much more. The Crisis Appeal aims to raise the vital funds needed so that our support can continue.

Russell Manning, Chairman of LJWB, said: “Leeds Jewish Welfare Board has responded extremely quickly to the coronavirus crisis so that nobody in the Community should feel alone. I’m extremely proud to be part of an organisation and a Community who cares for each other at all times, but especially in this time of crisis.

“We are one big family and we will pull together but in order to do that, we need the financial support of the Community – gifts of all sizes will make a difference. Please give generously to the LJWB Crisis Appeal so that we can continue to provide comfort, care and compassion to our Community.”

Leeds Jewish Welfare Board have been responding to the changing needs of the Community for 142 years. With your support, this will not change. Donations of any size will make an immediate difference to the lives of people in our Community. Please call 0113 203 4919 to donate now.

If you or any of your friends or family need support at this very difficult time, please call LJWB on 07812 753575 or 07812 753676: Monday to Thursday 8am – 6pm, Friday 8am – 2pm, Sunday 10am – 2pm.
