21st and 22nd March

The opening weekend of the 2020 season of Harewood House begins with special inaugural activities – the iconic Leeds estate welcomes families to experience a maker’s market in the grounds’ Courtyard and family friendly fun among the gardens, perfect for Mother’s Day in Leeds.

The new season at Harewood will also see a brand-new exhibition and displays, alongside the gardens newly in bloom. For a real treat, why not also book in for afternoon tea in the Billiard Room? Enjoy a blissful afternoon together over a glass of fizz and an assortment of delicate finger sandwiches, homemade cakes and freshly baked scones with homemade jam and clotted cream plus a choice of tea or coffee.

If you managed to watch A Quiet Place in 2018 starring Emily Blunt without making a peep, then its upcoming sequel A Quiet Place: Part II might be for you and the badass mum in your life! Tenacious mother Evelyn (Blunt) returns to help her young family get to a place of safety in this new horror sequel, promising a spooky follow-up that will have us casting daggers at those rustling their popcorn too loudly. Putting Down Roots

1 April 2020

22nd March

Following the success of last year, The Inn at Scarcroft is once again hosting a special offer for Mother’s Day in Leeds, with a specially dedicated menu for treating mum this year. Last year’s three-course menu included favourites such as fish and chips and the traditional roast Sunday lunch (though we can’t guarantee it’s as good as mum’s of course!). Booking ahead is advised, while gift cards to be used at any time are also available.

20th March

The much-loved comedy cabaret trio Fascinating Aïda is back out on tour this spring, including a date at Leeds Town Hall on 20th March, just in time for Mother’s Day in Leeds! Dillie Keane, Adèle Anderson and Liza Pulman are bringing a selection of old favourites and topical hilarious songs you haven’t heard before and some you wish you’d never heard in the first place.

Formed in 1983, the troupe has three Olivier Award nominations and over 25 million YouTube and Facebook hits so far. The new show promises to be a feelgood, strictly over 14s riot that will amuse, delight and horrify in equal measure.

Make A Note

21st March

The Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Leeds Festival Chorus are teaming up on 21st March to present a concert at Leeds Town Hall. Both renowned around the world, the performance is part of Leeds annual concert season which brings the best in classic and live music to the city.

This time they’ll be performing Mendelssohn’s Elijah, conducted by Simon Wright, the Leeds Festival Chorus’s conductor and artistic advisor. The oratorio chronicles many episodes of the prophet, who, according to the Books of Kings in the Hebrew Bible, performed miracles and lived in northern Israel. The performance will also be preceded by a talk with Dr. Judy Blezzard, an eminent musicologist.
