Weddings can be expensive, but with some smart planning, you can have an unforgettable day without overspending. We always tell our brides (and other event hosts) that the right suppliers are out there – you just have to find them! So, what are my top tips? Here goes…
Set your style
Before booking anything, create a mood board with your colours, themes, food, drinks, entertainment, and non-negotiables. Then, try not to get distracted or carried away! Set a realistic budget – and stick to it

Every time you think, “Oh, we must have that,” ask yourself if it fits within your budget and style. If it doesn’t – don’t book it!

Hotels are beautiful, but they come with a hefty price tag. Think outside the box – your favourite restaurant, a quirky city bar, or even an outdoor farm venue. If the location hasn’t hosted many weddings before, they may be more flexible on price. Negotiate and embrace being different!
Buy pre-loved, get multiple quotes, or rent
Wedding dresses, suits and decorations can be sourced second-hand or from lesser-known suppliers: competition means better prices for you.

Be clever with catering

My best friend paid for my wedding cake – it was a special and meaningful gift!
Limit the booze
An open bar can drain your budget fast, and many guests are drinking less alcohol these days. Offer a limited selection of wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and one or two signature cocktails. A DIY bar or prosecco wall can also be a stylish yet affordable option.
Cut back on flowers
Fresh flowers can be pricey, so consider a mix of dried flowers, artificial blooms, or greenery. Better supermarkets offer stunning yet affordable options. Have a crafty friend? Ask if they’d like to help create your floral arrangements – it could be a fun and sentimental way to involve them!
