Homeless Street Angels will be raising money this holiday season with a charity single.
Homeless Street Angels is a Chapel Allerton based charity supporting people on the streets with a weekly outreach as well as hundreds in their homes who have either been rescued from the streets or were in danger of becoming homeless.
Twins Becky and Shelley set up Homeless Street Angels six years ago following the death of their beloved sister Abi who had suffered difficult times and died at the age of 39. It began with one single outreach at Christmas and now has a core team of 50 volunteers which means than 6,000 hot meals have been handed out and 8,500 household items have been sourced and delivered to those who have found homes.
Each week with a team entirely made up of volunteers more than a hundred people are given a hot meal, sleeping bags, clothes, and toiletries, but more importantly they are served with love and hugs. They also run a food bank which with ever increasing need is now used by 500 families.
This year with the help of musical director Mark Walker who has worked with Westlife, Will Young, The Jacksons and Simply Red the charity has created a Christmas single with vocals by Claire Brooke, and Jonathan Ansell from G4. ‘There are Angels on Earth’ is not only an appropriate message for this time of year but is accompanied by a heartwarming video which shows the team at work and the recording of the single.
