Paul Appleson is embarking on a huge fundraising mission.
Wetherby optometrist Paul Appleson will be visiting Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in November to take part in the Great Ethiopian Run in order to raise funds for the charity Vision Aid Overseas.
The event coincides with the launch of Wetherby Eye Clinic, a brand new NHS community eye service for Wetherby and North Leeds; the result of a unique partnership between Paul’s practice, Appleson Optometrists, and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
Launching the new Wetherby service, Paul commented: “While this is an exciting new venture for us, teaming up with the hospital trust to provide specialist NHS eye care in Wetherby for the first time, the contrast couldn’t be starker. In Ethiopia there are only 129 eye doctors for a population of over 86 million.”
To promote the two events, Paul has composed and recorded a song on YouTube which he hopes will help raise much-needed funds for Vision Aid Overseas.
