Manchester Maccabi has exciting fundraising events lined up 2017, as Dancing Strictly waltzes back into the limelight and brand new competition The Great Maccabi Bake Off is launched.
This autumn, Manchester Maccabi’s popular annual community dance competition, Dancing Strictly is set to return to the stage. The event, based on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, will again bring a sprinkling of rhythm and stardust to its usual venue, the Dancehouse Theatre.
Budding dancers and amateur contestants will be paired with professionals and tread, or twirl on, the boards at the prestigious Cadman’s Dance Centre, where they will receive expert coaching to prepare them for their performances.
Cadman’s Dance Centre in Sale is under exciting new ownership and organisers are now seeking volunteers to pop on their dancing shoes and sign up to take part.
Last year, Dancing Strictly raised over £10,000 for Maccabi as Sharon Groos and Wendy Schweiger swept up the silverware after being named joint Judge’s Winners, while Sara Herman danced her way into the audience’s hearts to pick up the award for People’s Winner.
Joint reigning champion Sharon says of her Dancing Strictly experience: “Maccabi’s Dancing Strictly has been the most amazing experience and has changed my life in so many ways. My husband and I have both lost two stone in weight and are now both dancing competitively. We have found a new lease of life and it’s all thanks to Maccabi!”
An exciting adult group dance will again feature alongside the main competition, while the kids can also get involved, with three classes for different age ranges aimed at getting the little ones on their feet. Participants and audience members can also expect lots of extra surprises on the night. Watch this space.
