Jewish Action for Mental Health volunteers have helped keep Prestwich green with a community litter pick.
Jewish Action for Mental Health (JAMH) joined forces with Clean Team Prestwich for a Mitzvah Day community litter pick in Prestwich.
A brilliant turnout of around 20 volunteers were blessed with dry weather and managed to collect over 15 bags of rubbish in the Kings Road area.
The wide range of pickers also included Councillor Richard Gold and Sara Radivan, Regional Manager for the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
“The day was a great opportunity to give something back to the community and improve everyone’s daily life in little ways,” remarked local resident Anthony Kleerkoper.
Acting as a voice for local people, Clean Team Prestwich coordinates with Bury Council to facilitate improvements to Prestwich’s urban areas and green spaces. By taking direct action by organising litter picks and clean up events, the initiative promotes a litter free Prestwich and surrounding areas.
“Litter picking is great for people’s physical and mental health,” said Clean Team Prestwich Founder, Mike Wingfield. “It’s all about getting outside in the fresh air and doing something positive for the environment and the community.”
