Preparations for the 2015 Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards got underway as the nomination box journeyed across Leeds.
With this year’s Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards drawing closer – taking place on 16th October at New Dock, Leeds – the nomination process was officially kicked off in spectacular style.
In conjunction with the ceremony’s roadshow partner, Manning Stainton, guests gathered at its Moortown branch where Helen Oldham, managing director of Johnston Press Yorkshire, cut the ribbon of the balloon-adorned nomination box. Also in attendance to signal the start of the awards, which help honour deserving young people from across the region, were the estate agents’ sales director, Mark Manning, and the front desk negotiator at its Beeston base, Hazel Latner, who donned a crown and sash in recognition of her other role; Miss Leeds 2015.
Discussing the Yorkshire Post’s position as a media partner, Helen explained: “We’re pleased to support the awards and help tell the stories of children who have led challenging lives – it’s very inspiring. Each year the event has grown and is really positive for our county.”
The nomination box continued its travels, arriving at Manning Stainton’s Harrogate office, before finishing off in the Wakefield branch where the awards’ ambassadors, The Chuckle Brothers, brought the process to a close.
A panel will now decide the finalists for each award, and the winners will be announced during the glittering ceremony and dinner, presented by BBC Breakfast business journalist and programme co-host Steph McGovern.
Sponsorship packages are available and both tables and individual tickets can be purchased to help raise funds for the St. James’s Place Foundation.
