Plans have been approved to transform a landmark building in Altrincham into an office- led multipurpose unit.
The redevelopment of the Rackhams building, which was the former home to House of Fraser, will be part of Trafford Council’s £100 million project to improve the Stamford Quarter.
The plans include 50,000 sq. ft of commercial workspace, with extensions made to cover retail and leisure facilities with access to Stamford Square.
“The council has been at the forefront of the regeneration of the town centre in recent years, including our work on the successful Altrincham Business Improvement District,” said Trafford Council Leader, Andrew Western.
“The Rackhams building has always been close to the hearts of people who live in Altrincham, and following close consultation with residents, we will redevelop the site to meet the needs of a modern town centre with a mix of workspace, retail, and leisure.
“This project will help Altrincham become an even more successful town centre, and I will be delighted to see it take shape.”
