Ashley Blaker and Imran Yusuf will grace the stage of Carriageworks Theatre on 11th June with their latest hit-comedy show, Prophet Sharing.
The descendants of Abraham may have gone their separate ways, but now stand-up comedian friends Ashley Blaker and Imran Yusuf are joining forces in the most unlikely double-act since Kermit and Miss Piggy – neither of whom Ashley and Imran can eat!
Ashley Blaker is the first Orthodox Jewish comedian to be given his own BBC Radio 4 show – Ashley Blaker’s Goyish Guide To Judaism – set to return later this year. Last summer, he completed a five-week run of his show, Off-Broadway, which The New York Times dubbed “a slickly funny stand-up show”. He followed this with a sold-out run of his debut show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
A skilful raconteur of East-African Indian descent, Imran Yusuf has gained renown for his ability to seamlessly weave socio-political satire with heartfelt introspection. He has completed two UK tours with his solo shows, An Audience with Imran Yusuf and Bring the Thunder. His third solo show Roar of the Underdog went down so well at the 2014 Edinburgh festival, he took it back for a second instalment with its sequel, Super Roar of the Underdog Turbo X: HD Remix, the following year.
Originally brought together by a passion for the same football team, the pair are travelling the UK uniting people of every faith and none for an evening of laughter. On 11th June, the duo will take to the stage at Leeds’ Carriageworks Theatre for what is set to be a comedy extravaganza of biblical proportions.
