A stunning choir performance organised by Susan De Costa has recently delighted the community.
In September this year, Craig Lees, Director of the Choir at the Leeds Conservatoire called Susan Da Costa and asked if the community would be interested in putting on another event.
Several years ago, she had watched a programme called Pitched Battle in which choirs from around the country competed and was mesmerised by the Leeds Choir who were trained by Craig and followed them through the whole series until they finally won. Susan was so impressed by Craig that she did her best to trace him. Susan emailed him and one day he called her, and the rest is history.
He has since then done three extremely successful concerts the to raise funds for different charities. When he approached her in September she knew she wanted to involve the Zone as it had all the facilities to help with the project and do the most wonderful work for the youth in our community. Susan volunteers for Makor and is also was a member of Anne Frank WIZO so the three charities got together and put on a very successful concert on 10th December. They had a couple of stumbling blocks in the way, but the quarter finals of the World Cup and the weather didn’t stop almost two hundred guests attending the concert.
Despite England being knocked out the audience were in full flow singing, clapping and moving along with the music and were delighted that three worthy charities were going to benefit from the proceeds.
